Pest Prevention
HOMEOWNER TIPS TO MINIMIZE TERMITE
AND PEST PROBLEMS
- Keep gutters free of leaves and debris, which
can attract insects. We can provide this service for you.
- Keep fallen leaves or mulch away from the
home's foundation. Mulch retains moisture and is food for termites.
- Repair any wood along eaves and molding that
is deteriorating. Rotting wood attracts insects.
- Prune vegetation hanging over the roof or
near the house. Insects can use these as a bridge to your house.
- Caulk around windows and doors to prevent
insects from entering the dwelling. Also, make sure there are
no gaps around your foundation. Mice only need a 3/8- inch hole
or crack to get inside!
- Clean up thoroughly any spilled food, garbage,
pet food, or grains, which might attract nuisance animals and
insects. Also, do not leave pet food outside. Store birdseed and
pet food in sealed containers.
- Keep firewood and lumber away from your house
- Eliminate damp spots around the building.
Insects need moisture, so you need to fix leaking spouts on outdoor
faucets and air conditioning units and ensure proper alignment
of downspouts to divert water away from the foundation.
- Have your home inspected each year.
All Star Pest Management provides a very affordable yearly service
for termite control.
